I have been involved with Emerge from its early beginnings in 2000, when I joined the organisation as a supported employment consultant. I now manage the team at Emerge and endeavour to ensure that the day to day running of the service happens smoothly. It also means that I provide some extra hands-on when needed.
My work history includes retail and marketing, hospitality and administrative roles and support of the elderly, and I think that it is this wide range of experience across many roles that has provided me with an excellent grounding in being able to talk to people about employment.
I have always believed in equal rights for all people, and feel privileged to have been able to spend my working life in activities centred on this belief. My interest in and enjoyment of people and respect for their stories means that I have never had a dull day in the office.
I remain convinced that the world should know about supported employment, and the tremendous benefits that it offers to everyone involved – directly and globally. I also believe that if I can find such a great job fit for me, then anyone else can too.
