ASENZ Employer of the Year Awards 2005
ASENZ
(Association of Supported Employment in New Zealand) have an "Employer
of the Year" awards that celebrate those employers who use supported
employment services. Emerge nominated Wellington City Council who in their
various forms (Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre, CitiOperations, Disability
Reference Group, Botanical Gardens) has provided both paid employment
and work experience to our clients. Wellington City
Council came in as Runners Up for 2005. Thank you to the Wellington City Council
for your continued support and inclusive attitude.

Exploring Futures
'Exploring Futures 2007 and Beyond' is published by Wellington City Council in conjunction with Emerge. The first edition was established as a Transition services directory.
Due to its great success we have further developed this concept to include
FAQ's for people with Disabilities, self starter checklists and service
information. The FAQ's and Checklist will relate back to the directory
where appropriate to enable people with Disabilities, their families,
providers, sectors, schools and other interested parties to be able to
make direct contact with the appropriate service or sector. If you are
interested in receiving a copy of thecurrent Exploring Futures booklet please email enquiries@
emergetrust.org.nz, or phone (04) 384 7456

CODE Funding
In July 2005, Mainstream announced that they were administering CODE funding.
CODE (cost of disability in employment) funding is the same amount as the Workbridge
administered fund of $16900. This amount is available for each of the 2 years
of the placement. Previously under the Mainstream Programme, participants have
not been able to access other funding to cover the cost of disability in employment
so the availability of CODE funding is a welcome addition for employers and
participants alike. The fund is available to Mainstream participants and under
the funding, they may request the following support.
- physical needs related to the disability and the particular employment
situation;
- interpreter services;
- adaptive software and hardware designed to facilitate communication and/or
otherwise accommodate a person's impairment;
- other costs considered by the Mainstream Programme Manager to be reasonable
in terms of the aim of the fund

Workbridge
In July 2005, Workbridge announced that Workbridge funding was now available
to all government departments.
