Darine @ Work

about us sidebarTrue to the saying,Darine has hit the ground running. Just weeks into her first paying job, she has been being commended on her competency from day one.

Art-Craft Bakery co-owner, Jillian Maxey, sums her up: “She is just lovely, friendly, helpful, a big smile and a good worker”. Darine’s year promises to be busy. Weekday mornings she is studying literacy and numeracy at the HFH International Institute. Every afternoon she is at Art-Craft, washing all the dishes and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy. Darine speaks highly of her work-mates: “The people are amazing, the managers so perfect, nice people”.

Last year she successfully completed an entry level hospitality/customer service course and qualified with a Food Safety Certificate. She is keen long term to be involved with food preparation and serving on the counter. “The job is good to learn, looking at Patrick (the other owner) cooking food. I’m always asking questions”. Art-Craft describes itself as a “classic Kiwi bakery selling all traditional bakery items at good prices”. A long established family run business, it serves the central CBD workforce with a large range of savoury bread and baked items as well as cakes and desserts.
