Kimberly’s Rebel Work Experience
Kimberly, another of our Transition students is currently at Rebel Sport, Porirua for her work experience. This is the second placement that Ina the store manager has had with Emerge. Kimberly has been buddied up to work alongside Megan who also first came to Rebel on a work experience and also attended Aotea College. Megan says “having students for work experience helps a lot by getting new stock out on the floor for sale. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement and gives the student an idea of how it all runs.” This was confirmed by another staff member who said “it’s great to have extra hands on deck”.

Kimberly’s tasks have been assisting to process the new stock in the apparel department which she says has been a good challenge and has given her the opportunity to be more independent, responsible and part of a team. She says of the team at Rebel “they are supportive and patient” and feedback on her efforts have proven Kimberly puts in “a good effort and is learning lots. She is on the job straight away and asks questions if she needs help”. From my own observation staff at Rebel Porirua are a very friendly, welcoming and hardworking bunch indeed!
