Louise – Lovin’ it.
When I arrive to catch up with Louise about how work at McDonalds is going, I am greeted with her usual big smile, and a bag of delicious feijoas – thanks Louise!
Louise has been a Lobby Assistant at the Basin Reserve McDonalds for six months now, and is loving the work. Her role is to make sure that when customers come in they walk into a clean, tidy restaurant, which involves quite a few different tasks.
Louise’s favourite things about working are meeting people, both customers and colleagues, getting paid and being able to save. Customers are always greeted with a smile.
As Louise doesn’t need on the job support from Emerge, instead we catch up regularly outside of work about any issues, and Louise likes knowing that support is there if she needs anything.
In addition to working at McDonald’s, Louise has various other community commitments such as volunteering at the Red Cross Shop and singing in her local choir.
Louise tells me that work is good as it has given her more confidence, she gets good support and has great colleagues. Louise’s supervisor focuses on making sure the employees are happy. And loving the food doesn’t hurt!
