Trustee Focus – Joanna Maling
Hello, my name is Joanna Maling. I have been on the board of Emerge Supported Employment Trust since 2008.
I have found this to be a huge learning experience and one I’ve really benefited from.
Originally I was a client of Emerge and then I found employment in the disability sector, an area I am very familiar with having grown up with a physical disability myself and having a mother with poliomyelitis.
Last year I was asked to facilitate the client focus group. I am finding I am learning a lot from the clients and about other organisations. My role is to act on behalf of the Board and to report back on questions and matters arising to the Board, and then back to the group with suggestions for the way forward. I am looking forward to the year ahead.
